PRESCHOOL ENGLISH CURRICULUM (5-6 YEARS OLD)
The preschool years are a critical period for language development. Children at this age are naturally curious and eager to learn new things, making them ideal candidates for acquiring a second language like English. Our preschool English curriculum is designed to foster a love of learning and lay a strong foundation for future English language success.
PRE-SCHOOL 1
- Learn to recognize and pronounce all 26 letters of the English alphabet.
- Develop listening comprehension skills through songs, games, and other activities.
- Begin building a vocabulary of basic words and phrases related to everyday life.
- Mastering reading the alphabet chart combined with learning vocabulary: C (Cat, cow, …) => approximately 116 vocabulary words about objects around the child and classroom commands.
PRE-SCHOOL 2
- Review of phonics and vocabulary: Review and reinforce phonics and vocabulary learned in Pre-School 1.
- Introduction to short vowels: Learn to pronounce and recognize short vowels (e.g., /am/, /ip/, /ot/).
- Expansion of vocabulary: Expand vocabulary through classroom routines and activities.
PRE-SCHOOL 3
- Comprehensive review: Review phonics, vocabulary, and grammar concepts learned in Pre-School 1 and 2.
- Introduction to long vowels: Learn to pronounce and recognize long vowels (e.g., /ee/, /ie/, /oo/).
- Develop listening and speaking skills through videos, songs, and stories.
- Practice using simple sentence structures to communicate with teachers and classmates.
GOALS
- Mastering the alphabet, understanding the pronunciation of each letter/short vowel/long vowel.
- Acquiring vocabulary related to daily life topics such as objects, actions, emotions, family, school, food, places, animals, plants, colors, numbers… along with basic, simple, and easily applicable sentence structures.
Children absorb and develop language skills naturally, actively, without pressure. This helps them gain more confidence when entering regular English programs.
