THE INTRODUCTION TO FLYERS LEVEL (A2)

 

  1. Objectives:
  • The A2 Flyers is the highest level of the Cambridge English: Young Learners (YLE) exam series for children.
  • It assesses students’ English language skills in the four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing at the A2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
  • The target age group for Flyers International English Certificate is students aged 10-12 years old.
  • The aim of the exam is to ensure that students can use English to communicate in familiar situations, interact with native speakers when they speak slowly and clearly, understand simple written English, and use basic phrases and expressions.
  1. Teaching Content:

Reading and Writing Skills:

  • Reading:
    • Students are guided to read and understand simple English texts such as stories, dialogues, or short descriptions related to everyday and familiar topics and situations.
    • They are provided with appropriate vocabulary for each topic, basic grammar points, and the ability to explain vocabulary and provide simple concepts in English.
  • Writing:
    • Students learn how to write a short paragraph about their feelings and give reasons using simple sentences.
    • They are guided to compose a story in English using ideas, images, or vocabulary provided by the teacher, and then write it from their own perspective, using basic grammar points and common linking words.

Speaking Skills:

  • Speaking:
    • Students are helped to use fluent language when talking about common topics, feel confident in communicating through their ability to introduce themselves and ask questions to create an effective conversation.
    • They are also guided on how to present a common topic using simple language.
    • Students practice various question formats in accordance with the Flyers Speaking test structure.
  • Listening:
    • Students are provided with strategies and tips to help them understand short spoken passages on everyday topics, increasing their ability to react and give correct answers.
    • They practice various question formats in accordance with the Flyers Listening test structure.
